Our Diagnostic Services

Digital Radiography (Pet X-rays)

Fast (almost instant), non-invasive, high-resolution imaging used to examine your pet’s thorax, abdomen, skeleton, and joints.
How to Prepare:

Typically, no special preparation is needed. We just need to keep your pet still during the procedure—sedation might be used for restless pets.

Ultrasound

Non-invasive imaging using high-frequency soundwaves to obtain critical insights into your pet’s heart, bladder, brain, liver, kidneys, and more.
How to Prepare:

For abdominal ultrasound for pets, fasting for 8-12 hours is recommended to ensure clear imaging.

Water is typically allowed unless advised otherwise, but keep your pet from urinating before the appointment, as a full bladder provides better imaging.

Fur on the area of their body that will be in contact with the ultrasound probe might need to be shaved for high-quality imaging.

Blood Tests

Blood draws are essential for pre-surgery assessments and ongoing health or infection monitoring. Includes complete blood count (CBC) and blood chemistry tests.
How to Prepare:

Follow any specific fasting instructions (usually 6-12 hours) provided by your veterinarian for accurate results.

Keep your pet calm to prevent stress-related changes in blood values.

Endoscopy

A minimally invasive examination which uses a thin tube with a video camera attached to the tip in order to identify foreign objects, inflammation, or tumors in your pet’s gastrointestinal tract.
How to Prepare:

Withhold food for 12–24 hours prior to the procedure for clear visualization and safe administration of anesthesia.

Withhold water for a few hours before the procedure, as advised by your veterinarian.

Our pet endoscopy services require general anesthesia, which means they will need to undergo our pre-anesthetic evaluation process.

CT Scan

Advanced 3D imaging for detailed views of complex internal conditions involving the head, chest, and joints for thorough evaluations.
How to Prepare:

Sedation or anesthesia is typically required for CT scans, which means they will need to undergo our pre-anesthetic evaluation process.

Fast your pet for at least 8 hours before the scan to ensure clear imaging and the safe administration of anesthesia.

Ultrasound-guided biopsy and Fine Needle Aspirate

Accurate tissue or cell sampling procedures for diagnosing cancers, infections, lumps, lesions, unexplained masses, or inflammatory conditions.
How to Prepare:

Fasting for 8-12 hours may be required if sedation or anesthesia is planned.

Laparoscopic Biopsy

Laparoscopic biopsies use small incisions and a miniature camera to obtain precise yet low-risk access to your pet’s internal organs. This helps us generate accurate diagnoses while minimizing pain for your pet.
How to Prepare:

Fasting for 8-12 hours is usually required to reduce the risk of complications during the procedure.

We may also ask you to discontinue certain pet medications, if any, before the procedure.

Cardiac BNP

Cardiac BNP is a simple blood test that measures the levels of brain natriuretic peptide— a heart stress hormone. This test is crucial for detecting early signs of heart problems in dogs and cats.
How to Prepare:

Fasting is typically not required, although we may inquire about the medications your pet is taking.

Stress can affect results, so help them feel as relaxed as possible before the blood draw.

Echocardiograms

Also known as a heart ultrasound, an echocardiogram is a noninvasive test in which a probe is placed on your pet’s chest to capture real-time heart images, helping assess structure, function, and blood flow.
How to Prepare:

Your pet can eat and drink normally before the echocardiogram.

Most pets don't require sedation; however, if your pet is particularly anxious, we can try certain measures to help them calm down.
